Steven Gerrard has reacted to suggestions that he is set to stage a comeback to his former club, Liverpool with the reply that he sees no current opportunities
at Merseyside club.
The former Liverpool captain said, “People need to understand that Jurgen Klopp is his own man. He’s got his own team of people around him that he is very happy and content with. Of course I’ve got a huge Liverpool connection and Liverpool is in my heart and always will be but there’s nothing to really comment on. There’s no future decision to work with Klopp, I get on really well with him, we’re in contact but there’s no job opportunity there at the moment.”
Gerrard, who has decided to enter management after he retires at the end of the MLS season in October, admitted that he will take his chance if there is a space in Anfield. As the legend still wants to be part of the Kop family.
It is of note that most players consider going into management after their professional career. However, some mangers do not condone the return of legends to their former club, recent instance is Arsene Wenger, who gave Thierry Henry stiff conditions to be part of his back room staff.
